Cultural Change in Organizations provides answers for those wanting to help their culture move. This how-to book for creating what the Gallup poll calls an “engagement culture” illustrates how to lead an organization toward increased business results and improved morale. This book showcases, in story form, how to create a culture which forges a powerful synthesis between management authority and employee participation which leads to striking results in safety, quality, and productivity. It is written from Robert Crosby's extensive experience "in the trenches" within organizations where he works on a regular basis with all stakeholders. Examples span hi-tech, nuclear, government (city, county, and federal), manufacturing (union and non-union), the health industry, and non-profit organizations.

Cultural Change in Organizations A Guide to Leadership and BottomLine Results eBook Robert Crosby Reviews

Dr. Robert P. Crosby's life history as an educator and organization development guru shines through in this book. I truly believe it is a must read for anyone involved in driving goals in organizations of all types, and those who support these leaders.

In this book, Crosby takes the reader on a journey into the complex world of Organization Development, giving a refreshing and sometimes provocative perspective including the courage to say "no" to the immaturity that exists in workplaces. Instead, the reader learns to focus scarce time and resources on shifting the culture to lead with purpose, set clear goals, define who is in charge (and make that explicit), and continuously connect and communicate to ensure that decisions are being made with the right balance of authority and engagement. Since embarking on this educational and experiential journey seven years ago, which included reading Crosby's works, I have become so much calmer and more effective in my own work, and am often sought out as someone that is effective in helping others be successful. I owe much of my renewed joy and success in my career to the tools and tricks of the trade that Crosby freely shares in "Culture Change in Organizations."

Open the pages and soon Crosby will take you on a deep dive into the behavioral sciences to understand the motivations and needs of people in organizations. But, you may not know it as he's not a psycho-babble kind of guy. His work intertwines family systems theory with solid business practices and delivers a clear direction for achieving culture change, in a story fashion that makes his writing fun. You may receive some biofeedback as you read through this book as some of the lessons are paradoxical--but tried and true for those that have the courage to learn the lessons through their own daring interventions on ineffective work behavior.

I found it useful to start with chapter 8 to familiarize myself with Crosby's view of effective leadership, and then went back to read it from cover to cover, including re-reading chapter 8. Whatever your approach, enjoy this read! Also check into his other works for a robust approach to developing your leadership and team development skills.
I am a Director of Operations of a manufacturing firm that currently has about 400 people. This book is the blue print for our culture change over the last few years. By "doing" the road map presented in CCIO, our plant has reached records numbers in production and on-time delivery. We increased our capacity by 25% in eight months by working more efficiently and increased our on-time delivery by 12% during the same time period. At the same time, the morale and engagement of our people has significantly improved. Robert Crosby's simple straight forward approach is practical and achieves tangible business results.

Thanks Behzad!
Robert Crosby is the guru of organizational culture. This book is amazingly insightful on many levels. I read the original version "The Authentic Leader" 11 years ago and the Crosby's have found a way to improve on it with this version. These teachings really work! I have practiced these skills in my life and work for many years and I have had tremendous results. Hats off to making an Excellent book even better.
